Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 5, 2026
Trinket Mahj was built to help you practice American Mahjong — not to collect information about you.
Here's the short version: Trinket is a local-first app. Your uploaded mahjong card, practice progress, and trinkets stay on your device. We do not require an account, use analytics, show ads, or upload your card or gameplay data to a Housecat server.
Information stored on your device
Trinket stores information locally on your device so the app can work, including:
- photos of the mahjong card panels you choose to upload or photograph;
- information needed to align and display your uploaded card;
- your practice progress and completed Charlestons;
- your earned trinkets, reward history, and streak information;
- tutorial progress and coaching preferences; and
- limited gameplay and coaching information needed to support your experience in the app.
This information is stored within Trinket's local app storage.
Your mahjong card
When you choose to upload your own mahjong card, Trinket can access the photos you select or photos you take with your camera.
Your card images are copied into Trinket's local app storage and processed on your device for alignment and display.
Trinket does not upload your card to a Housecat server. Your card is not sent out for OCR, artificial intelligence, cloud image recognition, or other external image processing.
Housecat cannot access your uploaded card through Trinket.
Data collection and tracking
Trinket does not currently:
- require you to create an account;
- collect personal information through the app;
- use analytics or advertising SDKs;
- track you across apps or websites;
- use advertising or attribution services;
- collect device identifiers for tracking;
- collect location or contacts;
- collect crash or performance data through a third-party reporting service; or
- sell or share your personal information.
Camera and photo access
Trinket requests access to your camera or photos only when you choose to photograph or upload your mahjong card.
These permissions are optional and are used only to support the card upload experience.
Deleting your data
Trinket stores your card images and practice progress locally on your device. You can replace your uploaded card within Trinket.
To remove all locally stored Trinket data, including your uploaded card and progress, delete the app from your device.
Children's privacy
Trinket is not designed to collect personal information from anyone, including children. The app does not require an account or knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If Trinket's data practices change, this Privacy Policy will be updated to reflect those changes. The date at the top of this page will show when it was last updated.
